The Youth Justice Community Support Worker provides voluntary, community-based intensive support and services to young people involved with Youth Justice.

Job Description
The Youth Justice Community Support Worker is an intensive support service that is designed to complement Youth Justice’s statutory case management role. It provides voluntary, community-based intensive support and services to young people involved with Youth Justice on a casual basis, outside of usual business hours via the after-hours service.
Expected commencing salary of $46.6420 per hour (Unqualified) or $52.1350 per hour (Qualified) plus statutory superannuation. Because MASP is a non-profit organisation, you also have the option to maximise your income through salary packaging.

This role can involve emotionally demanding situations and exposure to psychological hazards, including client distress, trauma disclosures, and urgent responses. MASP prioritises staff wellbeing by providing supervision, debriefing, reflective practice, safety measures, and access to wellbeing resources. We encourage open communication—raise any concerns with your supervisor, management, or the OHS Committee as soon as possible.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential role-specific skills, knowledge and experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Social Science, or other relevant tertiary studies.
Demonstrated experience working with clients in a case management capacity.
Knowledge of theory relating to working with adolescents (10-21 years), specifically those who have experienced trauma.
Assessment skills, capacity to apply a range of intervention strategies, effective problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to produce professional reports regarding client outcomes/directions or service delivery to inform case planning.
Ability to work within the program guidelines, including the ability to adequately assess young people’s needs and develop, evaluate and vary plans in relation to those needs.
Knowledge of local service system relating to young people referred to the service.
Demonstrated communication skills appropriate to young people and referral points.
Highly desirable role-specific skills, knowledge and experience
Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and the issues which underlie offending behaviour.
