As a Complex Case Manager, you will play a critical role in the lives of children and families involved in the Statutory system. 

MASP is a not-for-profit organisation located in Swan Hill, Victoria and is seeking to fill a 12 month temporary full-time position, commencing 1 July 2026.

Job Description

As a Complex Case Manager, you will play a critical role in the lives of children and families involved in the Statutory system. The Case Manager, working within the program, will work directly with at risk and vulnerable children and young people subject to Child Protection intervention.

The primary goal of the program is to work with complex cases with the overarching goal to reduce risks and increase the safety of children and young people accessing the program. Case Managers will work within a diverse setting across a number of areas of the Child Protection system including Out of Home Care (Foster Care, Kinship Care and at times Residential Care), Family Reunification and Support to maintain children and young people within the family/placement setting. 

The Case Manager’s responsibility is to provide advice, risk management, intensive support, advocacy, and guidance to ensure the well-being and safety of children remains paramount.  This is done through a collaborative and trauma informed approach working directly with children and young people, families, and relevant agencies. 

This position demands a compassionate, organised, and adaptable individual dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Expected commencing salary of $91,621.22 per annum plus statutory superannuation. Because MASP is a non-profit organisation, you also have the option to maximise your income through salary packaging.

This role can involve emotionally demanding situations and exposure to psychological hazards, including client distress, trauma disclosures, and urgent responses. MASP prioritises staff wellbeing by providing supervision, debriefing, reflective practice, safety measures, and access to wellbeing resources. We encourage open communication—raise any concerns with your supervisor, management, or the OHS Committee as soon as possible.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential role-specific skills, knowledge and experience

  1. Minimum Diploma level qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Social Science, or other relevant tertiary studies.
  2. Demonstrated experience in working with children and/or adolescents.
  3. Highly developed assessment skills, capacity to apply a range of intervention strategies, effective problem-solving skills, and highly developed interpersonal skills.
  4. Good working knowledge of child and adolescent development theory and practice. 
  5. Working knowledge of the Out of Home Care and Child Protection legislation and systems.
  6. Experience working with other professionals, government and non-government agencies and services.
  7. Possession of effective organisational and time management skills.
  8. Sound negotiation and assertiveness skills.

Highly desirable role-specific skills, knowledge and experience

  1. Case Management experience.
